Modes of Instruction

This certificate introduces students to additional skills necessary for employment in the carpentry trade. The courses within this certificate will focus on the skill-set needed for concrete work, including form work, anchor bolt setting, and stair forms, various roofing types, and interior finish work from baseboard, casing, and chair rails to setting cabinets, doors and various hardware use to complete finish work. Students will be introduced to the concepts of, plumbing, setting, and fitting interior doors of all types. Laying out asphalt, metal, and EPDM roof systems, reading and interpreting construction drawings as well as setting concrete form systems that include Symons forms, Sona-tubes, block-outs, brick ledges, and anchor bolt set up for steel columns. Students will also continue to meet OSHA safety.
