This certificate prepares the student to obtain the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) from the American Health Information Management Association. The certificate is a three-semester program with almost all certificate courses stacked inside the Health Information Technology degree.
From the Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Medical records and health information technicians organize and manage health information data. They ensure that the information maintains its quality, accuracy, accessibility, and security in paper files and electronic systems. They use various classification systems to code and categorize patient information for insurance reimbursement purposes, for databases and registries, and to maintain patient’s medical and treatment histories.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, projected growth in this area is 9% from 2020-2030. The 2020 median pay is $45,240.
This certificate prepares the student to obtain the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) from the American Health Information Management Association.
