Health Information Technicians are members of the healthcare team that organize and manage health information, including patient’s medical records. Health Information Technologists ensure that the information is classified and stored correctly, maintaining record quality, accuracy, and security. If you are interested in a career in healthcare and enjoy aspects of management, law, and computers, Health Information Technology might be right for you.
The Health Information Technology program is taught online, enabling students to complete the program on their own time. Students will complete a 40-hour professional practice experience in a healthcare setting during their final semester. This program follows the curriculum requirements as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association, ensuring that students receive the highest quality education and training.

Program Student Learning Outcomes
- Interpret and apply policies, standards, accreditation and regulatory requirements to the collection, organization, processing, management and protection of health information.
- Analyze and demonstrate the use of technology applications in all aspects of health information.
- Integrate leadership skills in the management of organizational resources including the evaluation and development of policies and procedures for health information services.
Students completing this degree must also complete curriculum requirements aligned with General Education Student Learning Outcomes.
