Kaskaskia College Nursing to host open house

Kaskaskia College Nursing is hosting an open house on Wednesday, February 15, at the KC Nursing Education Center, located on KC’s main campus. The event will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in learning about the college’s LPN and RN programs.

The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees held its monthly meeting on Monday, January 23, 2023. Board members included Bill Hawley (Odin), Linda Stover (Centralia), Bryan Holthaus (Carlyle), Louis Kalert (Centralia), Laura Wedekemper (Shattuc), Jeff Brown (Greenville), and Alyssa Lurkins (Student Trustee). Jim Beasley (Centralia) was absent.
Congressman Mike Bost and Illinois Capital Development Board visit Kaskaskia College

On Thursday, January 19, 2023, Kaskaskia College hosted several dignitaries in two separate, but very important visits. The Illinois Capital Development Board and United States Congressman Mike Bost (IL-12) toured the campus at separate times to review the recent renovations, hear about the latest developments, and learn of the College’s recent successes.
Kaskaskia College receives over $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities

Kaskaskia College is one of three community colleges nationwide to receive a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as a part of their Humanities Initiatives at Community Colleges program for 2023. The grant, totaling $116,488, will fund the “Caring for the Dying/Caring for Us All: Death and the Meaning of Life in Healthcare” project under the direction of KC Professor of Philosophy Scott Crothers.

The Kaskaskia College Foundation received a bequest of $1,714,471.32 from the Joe Pat Knight Charitable Remainder Unitrust to benefit future awardees of the Joe P. Knight Endowed Scholarship and the Jane Knight Memorial Scholarship.

Passing of former Kaskaskia College President Dr. Jim Underwood

It is with deep regret that the college announces the passing of former Kaskaskia College President Dr. James C. Underwood. Dr. Underwood passed away at his home in Beaver Lake, Arkansas, on January 4th, 2023. To honor Dr. Underwood and his legacy, all Kaskaskia College flags will fly at half-mast this week.
Kaskaskia College to Host Spring 2023 Enrollment Day on Saturday, January 7

Kaskaskia College will hold a Special Saturday Enrollment Day at the main campus, and all Education Centers on Saturday, January 7, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, for all new and continuing students needing help with admissions, advising, course registration, and financial aid for the spring semester. Courses for the spring 2023 semester begin on Monday, January 9, 2023.
