The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees held its monthly meeting on Monday, July 24, 2023. Board members included Bill Hawley (Odin), Linda Stover (Centralia), Laura Wedekemper (Shattuc), Louis Kalert (Centralia), Jim Beasley (Centralia), Craig Finke (Nashville), and Madison Johnson (Student Trustee). Bryan Holthaus (Carlyle) was absent.

Board members included Bill Hawley (Odin), Linda Stover (Centralia), Bryan Holthaus (Carlyle), Louis Kalert (Centralia), Jim Beasley (Centralia), and Madison Johnson (Student Trustee). Laura Wedekemper (Shattuc) was absent. Craig Finke (Nashville) took the oath of office at the beginning of the meeting.

On February 9, the Kaskaskia College Agriculture Club and Collegiate Farm Bureau students competed in the Illinois Professional Agricultural Student (IL PAS) Annual Conference at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL. Over 130 students participated from 11 Illinois colleges and universities.

Academic Challenge (ACES) is a test-based competition hosted by the Physics Department and Pre-Engineering Program at Eastern Illinois University. Offered to high school students, subjects tested are biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering graphics, English, mathematics, and physics.

Congressman Mike Bost and Illinois Capital Development Board visit Kaskaskia College

On Thursday, January 19, 2023, Kaskaskia College hosted several dignitaries in two separate, but very important visits. The Illinois Capital Development Board and United States Congressman Mike Bost (IL-12) toured the campus at separate times to review the recent renovations, hear about the latest developments, and learn of the College’s recent successes.
Kaskaskia College receives over $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities

Kaskaskia College is one of three community colleges nationwide to receive a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) as a part of their Humanities Initiatives at Community Colleges program for 2023. The grant, totaling $116,488, will fund the “Caring for the Dying/Caring for Us All: Death and the Meaning of Life in Healthcare” project under the direction of KC Professor of Philosophy Scott Crothers.
