Grounds Technician Student Worker
Position Title: Student Worker (Grounds)

Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours
Pay Rate: $15.00 per hour
Job Function
The student worker will perform a variety of grounds-related tasks, including the care of trees, trash collection, restroom maintenance, and other duties necessary to maintain the campus grounds and facilities.
Organizational Structure
The student worker reports to the Lead Grounds Technician, who reports to the Director of Physical Plant. The Director reports to the President of the College.
Essential Responsibilities
- Ensure that assigned areas are maintained to College standards.
- Complete daily tasks, including but not limited to:
- Tree care, mowing, sweeping, trimming
- Trash collection and disposal at designated dumpster locations
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
- Mixing and transporting cleaning solutions
- Assist with campus event setups.
- Participate in campus beautification projects as assigned.
- Transport furniture and other items to and from storage locations.
Other Duties
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This is a non-supervisory role.
Supervisory Controls
This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Assistance is available from the Lead Grounds Technician and the Director of Physical Plant when needed.
Guidelines
- Strict adherence to personal protective equipment policies and procedures is required.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as Kaskaskia College policies.

Interpersonal Relationships
This role involves regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, contractors, and the general public.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to various weather conditions.
- Heavy lifting (up to 80 pounds) may be required, especially when handling cleaning equipment.
- Operation of hand tools, motorized equipment (mowers, hedgers, trimmers, tractors, etc.), and cleaning devices is necessary.
- There is limited exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals.
