Function:
The Fitness Attendant is responsible for building positive, friendly relationships with all Kaskaskia College Fitness Center members and guests who use the cardiovascular and strength areas. Responsibilities also include training members on proper use of the equipment as well as preventative and general maintenance of the cardiovascular and strength training equipment areas.
Position Description:
Must interact with every member utilizing the fitness facilities.
- Responsible for knowing members by name and introducing yourself to unknown faces.
- It is your job to create an atmosphere of friendly community.
- Responsible for logging duties performed during shift.
- Responsible for the communicating members needs to the Physical Education Coordinator.
- Responsible for conducting equipment orientation that include demonstration of cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
- Responsible for completing assignments in accordance with maintenance plan.
- Responsible for reporting any equipment or facility concerns to the Physical Education Coordinator. .
- Responsible for keeping free-weight areas safe and organized. Must be able to demonstrate proper form and function when orienting members to the equipment.
- Responsible for cleaning cardio-vascular strength machines when not in use.
Qualifications:
This position requires the incumbent to possess:
- An outgoing personality and a willingness to introduce one’s self to new members daily.
- A basic understanding of exercise physiology and the proper use of cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
- CPR Certification required or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
- An ability to teach others. The incumbent must learn themselves, and then be prepared to put members through equipment orientations within 7 days of employment.
- Must also support the mission and values of the Kaskaskia College.
- The nature of this position requires medium physical efforts such as setting up equipment, lifting water bottles and weights
Evaluation Procedure:
Workers are evaluated on a daily basis, as I am in the area overseeing the fitness center. Their work-ethic, positive attitude and willing to learn new things as well as keeping the fitness center neat and clean and provide a friendly and safe environment for the guest at the KC Fitness Center.
