Function:
Responsible for managing a caseload of students and for developing and implementing individualized student-learning plans.
Organizational Relationship:
This position reports to the Project Director who reports to the Vice President of Student Services, who reports to the President of the College.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in an academic field or education required, Master's Degree preferred
- Three year experience in teaching
- Ability to be sensitive to the needs of economically and educationally disadvantaged students
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong computer skills
- Proficiency in organizing and planning
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the community college mission and philosophy
- Commitment to teamwork and consensus decision making
- Understanding of and commitment to process leadership
- Understanding of a "Learning College"
Qualifications Preferred:
Community college experience and experience working with low-income, academically disadvantaged, or disabled populations preferred.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and implement individualized learning plans for each program
- Work closely with college faculty to help participants gain the basic skills needed to succeed in college courses.
- Serve as liaison to college faculty and education
- Manage a caseload of students
- Prepare performance and attendance reports for participants utilizing tutoring and computer assisted services through the program.
- Collect academic data to support project
- Train and supervise program tutors and coordinate tutor schedules, including matching tutors with participants, recording and tracking participants' progress and attendance.
- Prepare reports as needed and assist Project Director in evaluating program.
- Assist with academic advising for all students as needed.
- Responsible for assisting/coordinating/directing College fund raising initiatives and projects and to support the work of the KC Foundation as Participation and supporting fund raising activities is an expectation of this position.
- Participation at college events and activities throughout the year is an expectation of this position. Further, College personnel are encouraged, as a member of the KC family, to support the many organizations within the institution serving our students and the district.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Responsible for daily supervision of any and all student workers assigned to the office.
Supervisory Controls:
While consultation with Project Director is available as necessary, the Specialist must be able to work independently and with a minimum amount of supervision. In addition, employee must be able to use independent judgment in dealing with and prioritizing routine problems.
Guidelines:
Position must follow all College policies and procedures along with all local, state, and federal laws and Grant regulations. Also, must adhere to and promote College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, fairness, and responsibility.
Personal Relationships:
Position deals extensively with College employees, students, and outside organizations on a daily basis.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Position is performed in a standard office environment and includes frequent interruptions and distractions. Position requires flexibility in dealing with constantly changing situations.
