Function
To perform instruction and other related duties in the Colleges instructional program.
Organizational Relationships
Adjunct faculty member reports to the Department Chair/Program Coordinator, who reports to the Dean, who reports to the Vice President, who reports to the President.
Qualifications for Position
Associate Degree with Lead Instructor Certificate (See below) A current Illinois Paramedic license National Registry of EMTs Paramedic (NRP) certification preferred (if not current NRP, expectation is to gain this certification within 18 mos. of employment) Illinois EMS Lead Instructor license and/or National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE) certification Commitment to community college mission and philosophy Excellent communication, organization, and presentation skills Willingness and ability to teach students in the classroom and through alternative delivery methods Work with entire College community in an effective and positive manner
Essential Functions
Perform instructional duties as assigned for appropriate subject area Prepare or update syllabi for instructional area as assigned. Prepare and update learning management system for instructional area as assigned. Participate in selection of textbooks and equipment, which the instructor deems necessary in instructional assignments. Perform assessment of student learning and participate in College wide assessment program. Report absences from assigned responsibilities promptly to the Dean Maintain attendance and grade records and provide these records for review as necessary Participate in professional development activities both on campus and off-campus, if available. Keep abreast of current trends, technologies and information in subject area.
Other Functions
Preform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Controls
Adjunct faculty member is required to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Consultation as necessary is available with the Department Chair or Dean.
Guidelines
Adjunct faculty member is expected to follow all College policies and procedures as well as all local, state, and federal laws. Adjunct faculty member is also expected to adhere to and foster development of Kaskaskia College core values of compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility and fairness.
Personal Relationships
Depending on the specific teaching schedule, adjunct faculty member can expect to have frequent contact with students and other College employees and will have frequent contact with community.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Depending on the adjunct faculty members load assignment, duties will be performed in either a classroom setting or internship or clinical environment. Travel within the Colleges Paramedicine program area(s).
