Students will review Spanish grammar, vocabulary building, oral and written practice. Students will deepen the functional skills in comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing Spanish, and the course provides an overview of Hispanic culture in various countries. This course begins the intermediate Spanish sequence and while reviewing the grammar at the elementary level, it extends the growth of communicative proficiency and furthers the understanding of Hispanic culture. Students will also be exposed to short pieces of Hispanic literature and film, and will engage in a basic research project. This course is not designed for native speakers. Prerequisite: SPAN 102 with a C or better, in the last three years, or with approval of instructor or Academic Dean.
