This course provides an opportunity for the student to synthesize all previous coursework and to demonstrate beginning competency in Health Information Technology (HIT). The practicum allows students to participate in a supervised, on-site facility experience that provides actual professional practice involvement and the opportunity to utilize learned skills and knowledge. The practicum is completed in a health information department or another approved health information related setting. Prerequisite: A minimum grade of "C" in OFTC 150, OFTC 256, CITA 151, OFTC 151, OFTC 152, OFTC 253, OFTC 260, OFTC 254, HITC 102, HITC 103, HITC 201, OFTC 257, OFTC 258, OFTC 285. A minimum grade of "C" or concurrent enrollment in HITC 212, 203, 202, 214. Or with approval of instructor or Academic Dean.
