Temporary Closure of Kaskaskia College’s Nashville Education Center for Structural Repairs beginning January 2025
October 28, 2024
Kaskaskia College is announcing the temporary closure of the Nashville Education Center to address necessary structural repairs due to construction deficiencies. The temporary closure will occur beginning in January 2025. The closure comes after water damage sustained during a storm in June 2023 revealed additional structural deficiencies and element exposure issues. A comprehensive restoration effort is now required to ensure the long-term safety and functionality of the facility.
Since the storm, the building has remained operational, with classes and services continuing on-site while expert evaluations were conducted. After completion of these assessments, Kaskaskia College has decided to temporarily close the Nashville Center for the Spring 2025 semester effective January 2, 2025, to allow for uninterrupted construction to remedy the structural deficiencies.
The College is working closely with individuals affected by the closure, coordinating plans to relocate classes and services to alternative locations or deliver them remotely. This includes both academic programs and student services typically offered at the Nashville Center, with specific details being provided to those impacted.
Kaskaskia College remains fully committed to serving the Washington County community and surrounding areas. We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding of KC students, employees, and community partners as the college undertakes these necessary repairs. The primary goal is to restore the facility to provide a safe, high-quality learning environment that supports the needs of the entire community.
