Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees approves agreement with IDOC for Centralia Correctional Center’s programs

The Kaskaskia College Board of Trustees held its monthly meeting on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Kaskaskia College. Attendees included Bill Hawley (Odin), Linda Stover (Centralia), Laura Wedekemper (Shattuc), Craig Finke (Nashville), Bryan Holthaus (Carlyle), and Connor Wademan (Student Trustee). Absent were Louis Kalert (Centralia) and Jim Beasley (Centralia).
The Board of Trustees has approved a three-year agreement with the Illinois Department of Corrections to provide educational services at the Centralia Correctional Center through 2027. The college provides instruction in four certificate programs: culinary, warehousing and distribution, construction operations, and HVAC.

The Board accepted the Post-Issuance Tax Compliance Reports for both the General Obligation Bonds Series 2022 and the General Obligation Refunding Bonds Series 2018. These reports ensure that the college complies with federal tax regulations regarding the issuance and management of these bonds. Trustees also approved compensation of $25,000 to CliftonLarsonAllen (CLA) for additional audit services. The tentative budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be available for public review beginning August 22, 2024, and continuing through September 20, 2024. Interested parties can view the budget in the office of the Interim Vice President of Administrative Services, located in AD 104C of the Administration Building at Kaskaskia College, 27210 College Road, Centralia, IL 62801. The budget will be accessible Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The budget will also be posted on the Kaskaskia College website at https://www.kaskaskia.edu/about-kc/consumer-information/. A formal budget hearing will take place on September 23, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., immediately preceding the regular board meeting.
The Board approved the following renewal agreements and purchases:
- Renewal of onsite mental health counseling services for the fiscal year 2025 with Family Life Consultants of Collinsville, IL. The contract, valued between $65,520 and $105,300, highlights the college's ongoing commitment to its students' mental health and well-being.
- Renewal contract for athletic training services with Select Physical Therapy Holdings of Mt. Vernon, IL, for $28,000.
- Renewal of the Canvas learning management system license from Instructure, Inc. of Salt Lake City, UT, for $82,567.
- Purchase of intercollegiate athlete secondary accident insurance from First Agency of Kalamazoo, MI, for $36,433.
- Purchase of new computing equipment from CDW-G of Vernon Hills, IL, for $128,570.
- Purchase of Lyceum electronic health records (EHR) software from Epic Systems Corporation of Verona, WI, for $64,000 with funding provided by the PATH grant.
Additionally, approval was given for bidding and awarding AV equipment upgrades for the Jane Knight Auditorium, not exceeding $94,000. This upgrade will improve the auditorium's audiovisual capabilities, enhancing its functionality for events and presentations.
In personnel items, trustees approved the new hires of Darrell Johnson as an Assistant Professor of Residential & Commercial Electricity, Tori Lueke as an Assistant Professor of Nursing, and Margo Wagner as the Rev Up EV Grant Coordinator.
