One of the world’s most sophisticated and lasting pop vocal groups, Rockapella uses each performance to open a window on practically the whole history of vocal music from vintage Mills Brothers through jazz and rock to current Hip Hop. The little miracle that keeps the crowds coming back year after year and constantly draws new fans is Rockapella’s astonishing full-band sound - a sound that seems impossible coming from just five guys with microphones. No instruments, no tracks, no mirrors – and their hands never leave their wrists. From their earlier days with the PBS hit show “Where In the World Is Carmen Sandiego?” to today’s international tours, Rockapella has evolved into a high-energy concert performance troupe.
Whether she’s free-diving, horse riding, leading an expedition to the peaks of the Andes, or swimming amid a school of sharks in the South Pacific, Celine Cousteau seeks to educate and inspire through adventure and visual storytelling. She is the daughter of ocean explorer and filmmaker Jean-Michel Cousteau and granddaughter of the legendary Jacques Yves Cousteau. Not just an adventurer and explorer, Cousteau is an incredible storyteller, and connects unique and diverse cultures, showcasing the importance of learning from one another and helping preserve the distinctive beauty of each and every group of people. Ms. Cousteau’s presentation at KC is entitled: “Inspiration from Exploration: Notes from the Field”
World famous, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most popular and sought after big band in the world today for both concert and swing dance arrangements. With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all times. The present Glenn Miller Orchestra was formed in 1956 and has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world. Trombonist Larry O’Brien is the orchestra’s present musical director.
In the melodic wake of the three operatic tenors, three Irish tenors and Three Mo’ Tenors, comes a new breed of tenors from more humble origins … 3 Redneck Tenors – A New Musical Adventure. The musical comedy featuring classically trained veteran artists has had several engagements in Branson and brings down home laughs with serious big city music. It’s a foot stompin’, knee slapin’, uproariously funny musical redneck romp, with tunes from Elvis to Puccini, soul to pop and country to opera. Travel with Billy Bob, Billy Joe and Billy Billee from their beginnings in Paris, Texas all the way to Carnegie Hall as they mix NASCAR with LaBoheme, lite beer with Carmen and even kick up a little dust with Madame Butterfly.
