Kaskaskia College Business Department to Hold “Career-A-Thon” contest for High School Students

The Kaskaskia College Business department is holding a “Career-A-Thon” contest for local area high school students with categories in Accounting/Business, Agriculture/Horticulture/, Computers, and Culinary Hospitality.

 

“The purpose of the Career-A-Thon is to assist area high school students in developing a successful career choice.  Students would learn about current Business Technology Programs while discovering their own strengths and talents,” according to KC Professor Tim March.

 

Students may take online tests in the four categories with the following rules: All testing should be completed by each student individually and proctored by the high school; Students may take tests in all 4 areas of interest;             Students will be expected to review online program information before taking any of the available tests.  This will help the students gain more knowledge about career choices and assist them with the test; .    Student test scores will be tabulated. Students with the highest scores will be eligible to win the prizes mentioned below. All tests will have time limits;          Applications MUST be submitted no later than April 25, 2014; After submitting applications, details will be sent by email on how to access online content and testing via Kaskaskia College Blackboard.

 

Prizes available for students are 1st Place      $150, 2nd Place $100, 3rd Place $75, and 4th Place $50.  All prizes are in the form of KC Bookstore and Amazon Gift Cards.  The highest scoring schools will also receive a trophy.
