Kaskaskia College Offering BLS Instructor Course at the Salem Education Center

Kaskaskia College will offer an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor course at the Salem Education Center on Thursday, March 6 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.  This course is for BLS (CPR) providers who wish to become instructors, or current American Red Cross instructors who would like to become American Heart Association (AHA) qualified.

Prospective students will need a current BLS (CPR) provider card, and a BLS Instructors Essentials Course certificate of completion.   Prospective BLS Instructors who successfully complete the instructor course must be monitored teaching a course within 6 months before they can teach on their own.  In addition, BLS Instructors are required to teach 4 AHA courses every 2 years to remain current with the instructor certification.  BLS Instructors will be able to teach other courses taught under the AHA, such as Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens and Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED.
