The main office of the Adult Education and Literacy Department of Kaskaskia College has relocated to the Kaskaskia College Workforce Center at 325 South Poplar in downtown Centralia.
As a member of the center’s One-Stop Consortium established by the Crossroads Workforce Investment Board, residents of the college district are able to obtain holistic employment and education services by visiting each of the partnering agencies housed in the downtown location. Beside the Adult Education and Literacy Department, the downtown center houses CEFS Community Services, Kaskaskia College Community Education, and Kaskaskia College’s Illinois Small Business Development Center. State and local employment and social service agencies also use the facility to offer off-site services to residents who are without or have limited access to transportation services.
The Adult Education and Literacy Department offers the following services: GED Review and Healthcare Bridge classes, job placement assistance for TANF recipients, education transportation assistance, tutorial services, family literacy, college and career preparation, and workplace readiness. All services are free to qualifying adults that are at least 17 years of age and not required to enroll in a secondary education program.
College district residents are able to receive adult education and literacy services by visiting any of the college’s education centers.
