Kaskaskia College signs Sandoval’s Krisen Perkins



Kaskaskia College is pleased to announce Sandoval basketball standout Kristen Perkins has signed to play for the Blue Angels for the 2013-14 season. 
 
Sandoval Coach Brenda Kunick says “Kristin played varsity four years at Sandoval through a coop program at the center/post position.  She was named team captain her senior year and was a team leader both on and off the court.  She was also very dominating under the basket.”
 
Sandoval’s record this year was 17-9 as they were crowned the Midland Trail Tournament Champs for second straight year.  They also got 2nd year in the their own Invitational Tournament. 
 
Perkins hit the 1000 point club last game of her high school career, was named MVP of the Midland Trail Conference Tourney as well as named to the MTC All-Tourney Team and the
Sandoval Invitational All-tourney Team.  She was also named the Centralia Manors Bounce Back player of the Week for the second year in a row as well as played at the Kaskaskia College All-Star Game. 
 
She scored 357 points her senior year as well as had 229 rebounds, 56 assists, 11 blocks, 57 steals and was 70/112 at the free throw line. Her future plans are to study education or physical therapy.
 
Kaskaskia College Coach Shane Larson says, “We are very excited to add Kristen to our program. Kristen is the hard working physical type player that will make our front court better. One of Kristen's strengths is her rebounding ability. She has that knack of finding the place on the floor where the ball will be. We are looking forward to seeing her grow and develop in our program.”
