Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that several faculty and staff members recently completed the year long Leadership Institute. “Through the Leadership Institute at Kaskaskia College, we are committed to preparing faculty and staff members for leadership positions in an effort to promote upward mobility and to expand the skills of our current personnel in leadership roles,” stated Dr. Jim Underwood, Kaskaskia College President. The KC Leadership Institute was established in September 2003 and the ninth class graduated in May 2013.
“The Leadership Institute provided a wonderful environment for gaining leadership skills and participate in case studies,” said Cydney Richardson, Institute Coordinator. The leadership series served as a personal growth program as well as an opportunity for participants to apply learned theories. Participants further gained valuable skills and knowledge from the shared expressions of college leaders.
Topics included: business ethics/core values; problem solving and conflict resolution, leadership models and organizational structures, career growth, legal issues in higher education,
teamwork, leadership traits, evaluations/assessment, information technology, servant leadership, linking of planning with accreditation, consensus decision making, paradigm shifts, creating an environment conducive to earning, finance and budgeting, trends in higher education, change and enrollment management.
