Top Ten Things Patrons Should Know

Your Kaskaskia College photo ID card is your Library Card. You have to activate it first at the library circulation desk.
Once activated, your new Library Card enables you check books and materials out
from the Kaskaskia College Library. It also enables you to check books and
materials out from off campus, placing holds electronically through our
electronic card catalog (

. You

can help you! You can

. This
card catalog not only gives you books in our library and the library system but
also allows you to view what is available throughout the United States and
throughout the world. It will also give bibliographical information of journal
articles.
3. Access
the online Library resources (electronic databases) by using
the library’s “Off Campus Access” databases. Go to
Electronic Subscriptions
for
instructions.
4. If
we don’t have a book or journal article that you need, you can get it through
Interlibrary loan.
Articles are often delivered electronically to your desktop in about three
working days. Books can take a week or more. Request the items using our
Materials Request Form
.

the Kaskaskia College Library’s catalog. Use
these sites to find books. To find articles in full text use an article database
in the
Electronic Subscriptions
area
instead.
6. Looking
for the books or older journals? The book
collection and older journals are located at the north and northeast portion of
the Library.
7. Wireless
laptops with Microsoft Office can be checked out for use within the library. Ask at
the circulation desk.
8. Headphones
and calculators can be checked out for room use only at the Circulation Desk.
9. Instructor
Reserve Material can be checked out at the Library Circulation Desk.
