Title: Supv Distribution Ops Eng
Location: Decatur, IL
Reporting to the Superintendent Distribution Control-Illinois, the Supervisor Distribution Operations Engineer is responsible for directing and
coordinating the operation of the Electric Distribution and Sub-Transmission Systems and supervising Distribution Control- Distribution System
Operating Supervisors (DSOS). Provide leadership and technical support in the operation of the electric distribution system as well as its corresponding
technologies (Advanced Distribution Management System, Callout, Switching, and other tools). Key responsibilities include:
-Provide technical support and leadership to the Superintendent of Distribution Control and Distribution System Operating Supervisors to ensure the safe,
efficient, and reliable operation of the electrical system; ensure that proper controls are in place to adequately and safely control, load, switch, and
troubleshoot these systems and associated substation equipment.
-Provide leadership and direction to ensure personnel are adequately trained and evaluated to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the sub-transmission
and distribution systems; ensuring the safety of the public and company personnel, while minimizing risk to system equipment.
-Provide leadership and direction of long range planning within the Distribution Control, establishing appropriate processes and procedures to ensure
continuity of operations, critical business activities in the event of disaster.
- Provide leadership to ensure the coordination of activities between Distribution Control Office operations associated with major service interruptions,
operational problems and substation and equipment failures.
- Collaborate with Division and Substation personnel to follow projects, coordinate system expansion and maintenance activities to ensure the integrity
of the sub-transmission distribution systems.
-Provide technical support to the Distribution Control groups, Distribution Automation, and Reliability Engineering functions.
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required.
Experience: Eight or more years of experience in planning, substation, relaying, or distribution design, construction, or operations required.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Other: Must possess a detailed working knowledge of electrical distribution system design and operations and substation design and/or operations.
Must possess a strong knowledge of the existing distribution operating technologies and must have the ability to utilize these technologies.
Must have the ability to lead and supervise a number of diversified, concurrent activities which directly impact Ameren's customers, personnel,
and financial resources. Position will require on-call (after hours and weekend) responsibility. Position may include the need to work shifts.
After preliminary review, selected applicants must take the First Line Supervisor Test and obtain a recommended status in order to be eligible for this position.
