The 2013-14 AmeriCorps Team collected clothing items for tornado victims from January 15 through January 31 on all KC campuses. The drive was very successful with the students collecting over 20 bags of clothing items for the community.
The AmeriCorps Pledge reads: “I will get things done for America-to make our people safer, smarter, and healthier. I will bring Americans together, to strengthen our communities. Faced with apathy, I will take action. Faced with conflict, I will seek common ground. Faced with adversity, I will persevere. I will carry this community with me this year and beyond. I am AmeriCorps member, and I will get things done.”
According to Wendy Blythe, Sponsor for AmeriCorps, “This pledge was evident with the task that the students accomplished. Kaskaskia College is proud of this group of students and what they have accomplished.”
Blythe is also taking applications for next year beginning March 1. To apply, you must be a full time student at Kaskaskia College and complete an application and interview process. If chosen and complete the program requirements, you would be paid a small amount each month and could be eligible for a scholarship at the end of your service.
