GED® Computer-Based Testing Available at Kaskaskia College

The computer-based version of the GED® Tests is now available at Kaskaskia College.  GED® Testing Services has collaborated with Pearson VUE Testing Centers to develop and administer the new version of testing.  To register online for the computer-based testing, registrants should visit www.GEDcomputer.com.  Registrants will need a credit or debit card to register and schedule their testing.  Pearson VUE for GED® Testing Services manages all registrations.  Kaskaskia College serves only as a test-site for the computer-based GED® testing.  Currently, testing is available from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Fridays.

The paper-pencil version of the GED® testing will remain available to GED test-takers until the month of December.  Anyone desiring to take the paper-pencil version of the test should contact their local Regional Office of Education for information about the last day in which the paper-pencil version of the testing will be available through their office.  Effective January 2014, all new test-takers must take the computer-based version of the GED® testing.

Incomplete test-takers of the GED® testing are reminded that beginning January 1, 2014, former test scores for any test-taker that did not pass the entire GED® testing will expire at the end of 2013.  Incomplete test-takers are urged to enroll in one of Kaskaskia College’s GED® Review classes to build their academic skills to earn their GED® Credentials before the scores expires.  GED® Review classes are free, but require pre-registration for completion of the registration, screening, and orientation process for enrollment.  Applicants must be at least 17 years of age and not required to be enrolled in a secondary education program.  Assistance with employment, career, and college readiness is available through the support services of the department, which includes a GED Scholarship for former students of the program who earn their GED® Credentials, meet the eligibility criteria of the scholarship, and desire to continue their education at Kaskaskia College.

For more information about enrollment in one of KC’s GED® Review classes, the future computer-based testing, and KC’s GED Scholarship, please call 545-3115 or visit the main campus or one of the education centers (Salem, Nashville, Trenton, Vandalia, and Greenville) of Kaskaskia College.
