Title: Engineer
Location: St. Louis, MO
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Engineer is responsible for the development of engineering solutions, cost and schedule estimates, and preliminary designs associated with initial development and budgeting of facilities projects. Upon project authorization, perform detailed design, oversee drawing preparation, prepare specifications for equipment and construction contracts, finalize cost and schedule estimates, and assist or lead in the planning and coordination of projects as required. Provide technical assistance to other groups as necessary and overall project management as assigned. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Provide on-site field management and direction for contractors with respect to construction of new facilities or modifications and maintenance to existing facilities managed by Building Service. Interact with vendors, contractors, architects/engineering firms, and internal customers.
- Assure that contractors are satisfying requirements and are in compliance in regards to scheduling, cost tracking, material deliveries, subcontractor activities, specifications, drawings, job instructions, job working rules, lockout tag out (LOTO), safety procedures (OSHA), environmental regulations, and Ameren procedures and policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in the State of Missouri and/or Illinois or active commitment to obtain one is required.
Experience
Experience in commercial building HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical system design preferred.
Other
Must be able to work with contractors on multiple, complex projects, and work effectively with conflicting priorities and stressful situations in a team-oriented environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer skills, good leadership, decision making, and human relations skills required. Knowledge of OSHA, safety and environmental requirements also required. Travel will be required between various Ameren locations in Illinois and Missouri.
