The Staff Health Physicist provides technical support to the Radiation Protection programs to promote safe, legal and efficient plant operation. Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support, calculations, and professional expertise to ensure Radiation Protection programs protect the health and safety of plant personnel and the public.
- Review changes to federal, state and local radiation protection regulations to ensure continued compliance. Ensure programs and procedures comply with all Federal and State regulations, and national and international industry standards. Compile and submit reports to ensure compliance with current federal regulatory requirements, technical specifications and state legislation. Prepare and review changes to procedures, FSAR, Technical Specifications and other documents. Prepare monthly and annual reports to support Federal regulations and plant operations.
- Coordinate corrective action document responses for the Radiation Protection Department. Review RFR's (Request for Engineering) to ensure appropriate actions are taken to review and address RFR requirements.
- Develop and maintain research efforts in applied Radiation Protection to support plant operations. Provide support for special research and development work.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution, including formal training in radiation protection preferred. NRRPT certification or ABHP Part 1 required for positions other than the associate Health Physicist position.
Four or more years of radiation protection experience required for the Staff Health Physicist position. A Master's Degree relative to radiation protection may be considered in lieu of one year of experience, and a doctorate degree relative to radiation protection may be considered in lieu of two years of experience. 
Experience in health physics preferred for Associate level position.
Must have excellent leadership, decision-making, human relations, and communication skills. Security screening is required for Callaway Plant.
