Title: Tech Appl Ctr - Technician
Location: Urbana, IL
The Technology Applications Center (TAC) Technician position is responsible for the performance of testing activities associated with customer and
company sponsored equipment on all Substation, Relaying, Electric Distribution, & Metering facilities associated with TAC facilities. The TAC technician
will work closely with TAC engineers in the performance of equipment testing, data recording and at times data analysis.
An Associate in Applied Science Degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology course
Requirements from an A.B.E.T. (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited college. A degree from a school accredited by a different
organization will be considered if the course content is comparable (College Algebra, Trigonometry, DC circuits, AC Circuits, Electronics, Digital Logic, &
Microprocessors at a minimum). A grade of C or higher for each course must have been attained.
Successful completion of the E.E.I. Technical Aptitude Test (this applies to new hires and non-Local 51 (physical) employees.
Must possess or have the ability to acquire a valid Illinois A or equivalent driver¿s license.
Scope of Work: Scope of work is defined as Installation, Maintenance, Operating, Troubleshooting, and Testing of al devices installed on the distribution
system as well as within the TAC substation that are associated with TAC testing projects. This also includes all of the electronic intelligent devices
installed on the distribution system (less than 100KV) located outside of the substation fence for the Distribution Automation territory that the TAC substation
resides within. In the event that insufficient work exists associated with the TAC testing activities, this position will be utilized to support the Distribution
Automation territory that the TAC substation resides within.
