About Us
The Kaskaskia College Salem Center’s new location, 1475 W. Whittaker, has five classrooms
all equipped with smart room technology, and state-of-the-art computer lab, a tutoring room,
a wet (science) lab, an industrial/health occupation lab, and a conference room. Our open
computer lab is in constant use from the time the doors open until closing with both
students and individuals from the community. Our conference room and the multipurpose
room, which can be opened up to accommodate up to 50 people, has become a favorite for
community groups and organizations to hold their meetings.
The Center continues to increase its programming in the areas of science, business, and
general education with the goal of assisting students toward attaining their desired degree.
In addition to these classes, we recently received approval to expand our programming beginning
the Fall 2010 to include an Associate Degree in Paramedicine to add to the already existing
Certificate in Paramedicine. The Coordinator for this program is on site, which will ensure a
smooth and swift transition as we move into this new degree program. We also look forward to
the addition of the Certified Nursing Assistant program during the same semester. This is
exciting, as the college has many successful allied health programs, many which require the CNA
program as a basic pre-requisite.
The Small Business Development Center also has a presence at the new Salem Education Center.
This includes five business incubator offices for area start-up companies to lease, as well as
on-site staff for questions, appointments and counseling.
