“Reading Link Making an Impact!”

07/06/2017

Do you know someone who wants to learn to read or just read better? The tutors from The Reading Link can help!

For 30 years, trained volunteer tutors have help hundreds of people learn to read and write, sharpen skills to take on the High School Equivalency test, read to their children and help with homework.  Adults 17 years old and older not enrolled in school may qualify for one-on-one tutoring services.  One of the best parts is the services are FREE and available at local Kaskaskia College Education Centers and/or public libraries.

Over 4,000 residents in Clinton and Washington counties combined are functionally illiterate, which means they cannot read, write or do math calculations above a 4th grade level.  Functioning in society on a daily basis becomes difficult to impossible for these individuals.  Many dropped out of high school, some may not be able to find work because they cannot read the job application or cannot help their children or grandchildren with homework.  It does not have to be that way. The Reading Link can help!

Volunteer tutors are also needed in the Clinton and Washington county areas.  Training is FREE as well.  Consider helping change lives of your community members.
