Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that Reverend Tommy Henegar of Centralia is this year’s Community Education Award winner. The service that Rev. Henegar has provided to the Centralia community is invaluable. His energy and enthusiasm is infectious and affects everyone around him in a positive way.
Henegar is a leader in his church and his community at large. He embodies the concept of “servant leadership” and guides others with a sense of purpose and commitment. He is always the first to step into action and the last to leave upon agreeing to fulfill a community outreach project. His impact on others leaves a positive and lasting impression that encourages others to join him in completing initiatives under his leadership.
Rev. Henegar was nominated for the award by KC staff member Lisa Atkins who says “Pastor Henegar is a worker….a hard worker and one that does not seek accolades for his works. He is a servant and a leader in the purest sense, because he does this work for the benefit of others. He is honest and has no ego to satisfy. He is as comfortable working in the background as he is in a position of leadership. He is humble and quiet. Nevertheless, he is compelled to action and does so with energy, enthusiasm and tremendous dedication. He leaves every place he works with huge shoes for the next person to fulfill and always in better condition than its state upon his arrival. Is there anything more than any of us could hope for in our daily service to our work and those around us?”
Tommy is married to KC Dean of Arts and Sciences Kellie Henegar and is the proud father of Abby and Will.
