Kaskaskia College to Host Winter Instrumental Concert

The Kaskaskia College Music Department will present the Winter Instrumental Concert on Tuesday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jane Knight Auditorium. The concert features the Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Professor Cliff Jourdan.


Concert Band Highlights include:  “The Stars and Stripes Forever” by John Philip Sousa; Leroy Anderson’s “The Girl I left Behind Me” from Irish Suite; “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre; and “Poet and Peasant Overture” by Franz von Suppe.


Jazz Band Highlights include:  “Burner” by Sammy Nestico; Gordon Goodwin’s “Count Bubba”; “Bye Bye Blackbird” by Ray Henderson and Mort Dixon; “Alone Together” by Arthur Schwartz and Howard Dietz; and “Sweet Georgia Brown” as recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra.


Special guest vocalist, Dottie Register, will perform Bobby Troup’s “Route 66” arranged by Dean Mounts


The concert is free and open to the public with a reception for patrons and performers immediately following the performance. Reception made possible through the generosity of individual members of the Jim Beasley Veterans Tribute Committee.
