Kaskaskia College Holds Friends of Fine Arts Scholarship Dinner and Annual Meeting

The Kaskaskia College Friends of the Fine recently held its annual meeting to recognize and award scholarships and enrichment grants to students studying fine and performing arts at Kaskaskia College.   Students in the following fine and performing arts areas were recognized:  instrumental music, vocal music, speech team, visual arts, and theater.  In addition, journalism students serving on the Scroll newspaper staff were also recognized.

The mission of the Kaskaskia College Friends of the Fine Arts is governed by the fundamental belief in the vital role that the arts play in the lives of our residents, our communities and in the campus life of KC students. Annually, the KC Friends of the Fine Arts support events including instrumental concerts featuring performances by the jazz and concert bands, chorale concerts, speech competitions and theatre performances featuring the students of music, speech and drama. The visual art department features student and alumni art work, in addition to community artist pieces in our permanent and temporary collections around the campus and in the Dr. Dee and Sue Boswell Art Gallery.

The Kaskaskia College Executive Board is comprised of community volunteers,  KC staff and administration. The KCFFA Board, Fine Arts faculty and members, consist of individuals interested in furthering the educational endeavors of KC’s Fine Arts students and work to expand the College’s effort to enhance the community. The KC Friends of the Fine Arts Board strives to increase the level of participation and broaden opportunities for students in the Fine and Performing Arts. The KCFFA serves as the fundraising arm for the Fine Arts to help support Fine Art scholarships, department and facility needs.  The Friends of the Fine Arts, in conjunction with the local area Rotary clubs, host the Fine Arts Scholarship Banquet and Auction Fundraiser each spring.  All proceeds from this annual major fundraising event benefit student scholarships and enrichment grant opportunities.
