The Kaskaskia College Office Technologies Program is pleased to announce late starting classes that will begin in July.
Courses being offered include Intro to Word Processing, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint (Beginner), Intro to Computer Operating Systems, and
Introduction to Word Processing (CITA 110-WE02D) is an introductory course in the use of a specific word processor (Works, Word, WordPerfect, etc.) in a business environment. The student will become acquainted with computer hardware, software, and application use. This is a one credit hour course that begins July 8. It will be held on the KC Main Campus from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Microsoft Excel Beginner (CITA 120-TR01E) is an introductory course in the use of a specific
spreadsheet (Works, Lotus 1-2-3, Excel, etc.) in a business environment. The student will become acquainted with computer hardware, software, and application use. This is a one credit hour course that begins June 24. It will be held at the Trenton Education Center from 6:00 to 8:50 p.m. on Monday evenings.
Microsoft Powerpoint Beginner (CITA 140-NS02D) will provide students with the skills and the design concepts necessary to create interactive classroom tools with Microsoft PowerPoint. These interactive classroom tools include dynamic presentations created with layering techniques, personalized programs, interactive practice quizzes, and animated storybooks.
This is a one credit hour course that begins June 21. It will be held at the Nashville Education Center from 9:00 to 11:50 a.m. on Friday mornings.
Intro to Computer Operating Systems (CITG 185-OL02D) provides an introduction to Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Topics include performing basic mouse operations, understanding keyboard shortcuts, launching an application, emailing files and sharing folders. Projects include
the fundamentals of using Microsoft Windows, working with Windows desktop features; file, document, and folder management, and Windows Explorer. Students will learn the fundamentals of modifying the desktop work environment, customizing a computer using the Control Panel, advanced file and Web searching, mastering digital audio, video and pictures files, communicating over the Internet, basic understanding of computer networking, maintaining and optimizing computers and monitoring system performance. This is a two credit hour course that begins Monday, June 17. It is being offered as an on-line class.
Keyboarding I (OFTC 110A WE02D) is a beginning keyboarding course. The major objectives are to develop touch control of the keyboard and proper keyboarding techniques, build basic speed and accuracy skills, and provide practice in applying those basic skills to the production of letters, tables, reports, memorandums, forms, and other kinds of personal and business correspondence. This is an open-entry open-exit class that will be held in the KC Business Learning Center beginning July 8. This course is in the Business Learning Center and has flexible scheduling. Once enrolled, students should contact 545-3076 to schedule an orientation.
Medical Terminology/Anatomy (OFTC 150-OL02D) includes basic anatomy and physiology with emphasis on terminology and functions for health and health related office personnel. The format is combined with simple non-technical explanations of medical terms and descriptions of anatomy, physiology, analysis, orientation to the body as a whole, and common suffixes and prefixes. No previous knowledge of biology, anatomy, or physiology needed. This is a three credit hour class that begins June 17. It is being offered as an online course.
