Kaskaskia College is proud to announce that Angenien Huffstutler of Hoyleton and Mimi Polczynski of DuBois have received the 2013 Kaskaskia College Technology Award.
Angenien Huffstutler displays excellent support for improvements in the College’s technologies by sharing her expertise and knowledge with other faculty. She supports her fellow faculty when they have questions about utilizing technology in their classroom by readily sharing resources she has created along the way. Recently, one of the faculty was struggling with implementing Blackboard in her classrooms and Angenien shared her time, talents and experiences with the faculty member as she moved her classes to a hybrid format. Angenien is always accessible and very prompt in communication, which is incredibly important in today’s fast paced environment. She does not know the meaning of the word no and has always been incredibly helpful in assisting in any tasks that have been requested from her. Her positive attitude sets a great example for others and she is truly deserving of this award.
Mimi Polczynski is the Program Director for the Radiologic Technology Department and because of her leadership, Kaskaskia College is privileged to have state of the art radiographic equipment accessible for student learning. She is continually keeping abreast of the new technology and strategically budgeting so that the technology can be implemented in a timely manner. Mimi also provides leadership in technology in other ways as well. In the classroom, she is always the first to try out new things such as smart board, iclickers, and softchalk. Also, she continuously updates and revises her classroom experience with web-enhanced features. She experiments with new technologies and provides exciting, interactive ways for her students to learn. Her famous Jeopardy game is loved by the students and copied by many. This game was even copied by the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technology and is used every year at the conference. Mimi, thank you for inspiring us to continually improve our teaching with technology.
