- Readiness – physiologically and psychologically ready for fitness program
- Adaptation – changes that take place in the body from training
- Patience is a must because the changes are subtle and take place over time
- Individual Response – people respond differently to training stimulus

- Level of Fitness – where your fitness level is currently
- Environmental influences – work, home, school influences

- Overload – rate of improvement based on > F I T (frequency, intensity, time)
