Types Of Accommodations

The office of Disability Support Services office helps coordinate services that include but are not limited to the following:
  • Preferential Seating
  • Interpreters
  • Testing Accommodations (extended time and/or separate setting)
  • Test Readers
  • Tutoring
  • Tables in Classrooms
  • Large Print Handout and Tests
  • Library Assistance
  • Voice Recorders
  • Learning Ally (Books (if available) that can be downloaded to a phone, IPad, laptop, or computer)
"Reasonable Accommodations" are modifications or adjustments that enable a qualified student an equal opportunity to participate in campus programs and services. Accommodations are approved based on the written documentation received by the Disability Support Services Office and upon recommendation of the Disability Support Services Accommodations Committee.

Faculty Notification forms, which describe needed classroom accommodations, will be developed with the student's permission and disseminated to appropriate faculty each semester. It is the students responsibility to provide their instructors with the notification forms, have the instructor sign the form and then the student must return the form to the DSS office in order to receive accommodations.

Services are not automatically provided each semester. Students with disabilities must meet with the Disability Support Services Coordinator each semester. Requests for such services as interpreters, FM systems, or Books on CD must be made six to eight weeks in advance of the beginning of the each semester to allow the staff time to obtain the best services
